The Norwich City Board have been given another warning to back Paul Lambert, after former Canary winger Darren Huckerby has urged them to do all they can to back the City boss in the January transfer window.

The Canaries have won eight of their last nine games and are currently a class apart in the league, and Huckerby insists that for this success to continue the club must not only hold on to their best players, but also strengthen the squad, and as the fixtures mount up with their cup successes the current group of players are likely to be stretched to the limit.

Huckerby predicts that if the City boss manages to hold on to his key players and possibly add one or two more, then it won’t be long before the good times return to Carrow Road.

Huckerby will be present for this Saturday’s visit of Tranmere Rovers to Carrow Road, and admits he’s been very impressed by the job that Paul Lambert has done since taking over in August, and emphasises that the rebuilding work must also take into account life in the Championship should Norwich win promotion.

The midfielder’s immediate plans involve recovering from the hip operation he underwent in September, but he  hopes his long term future will include earning his coaching badges as part of the City set up.
