Hall of Fame for Lambert but no Scotland job

November 16, 2009 in News, Norwich City FC by Nelson's Revenge

Paul Lambert

Paul Lambert

City boss Paul Lambert was last night inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame.

The former Celtic midfielder played in the 1998 World Cup a year after winning the Champions League with Borussia Dortmund, becoming the first British player to win the European Cup with a non UK team, and the first British player to win the Champions League since its inception.

Lambert joined former Celtic players, Jimmy Delaney, Bertie Auld and Mo Johnston, who were named along with the Parkhead club’s first ever manager, Willie Maley, the Irish born player who served as manager of the Hoops for 43 years

As Lambert has received his good news, another former Scotland international was on the end of some bad news as George Burley was given his marching orders by the Scottish Football Association after a dismal 3-0 defeat at the hands of Wales on Saturday.

Lambert, suggested he believed Burley had been treated harshly, and looks to have ruled himself out of the running for the vacant Scotland managerial post.
