City have been rewarded for their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy victory over Swindon with a tie against Southampton.

The Canaries will be visiting St Mary’s in the semi-finals of the Southern Section.

City boss Paul Lambert had been hoping for a home draw in the Southern Section Semi-Finals after previous journeys in the competition to Gillingham and Swindon and FA Cup ties away at Paulton Rovers and the winners of next week’s replay between Morecambe and Carlisle.

But today’s draw saw the Canaries rewarded for their penalty win at Swindon with a 205 mile trip to St Mary’s Stadium in the week commencing December 14.

City striker Grant Holt has been named Coca-Cola League 1 Player of the Month for October.

Holt’s excellent performances throughout October saw the striker net an impressive five goals in as many League fixtures. He began the month with a brace in the Canaries’ convincing victory over Bristol Rovers, before continuing his fine form with a goal against table topping Leeds United. A second brace away at Stockport County ended a fantastic month for the experienced striker that helped his team secure four wins from their five League fixtures and lifted them into the Play-Off places in Coca-Cola League 1.

The decision to present the Coca-Cola League 1 Player of the Month award was made by the Coca-Cola Player of the Month awards panel which includes former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, Steve Bates, Chairman of the Football Writers’ Association, Malcolm Clarke, Chairman of the Football Supporters’ Federation and Steve Watts, Marketing Assets Manager, Coca-Cola Great Britain.

Also short-listed for the October award were Neil Harris of Millwall, Dean Hammond of Southampton and Southend United’s Lee Barnard.

Goran Maric

Goran Maric

Canaries boss Paul Lambert has admitted that Goran Maric has been told to find himself another club with Lambert admitting that the striker is not part of his plans.

The striker signed a one year deal at the start of the season, but has made just two appearances for City, neither of which have come under Lambert.

Maric has been linked with a move to Chris Sutton’s Lincoln City, but Lambert said he has received no inquiries from his former Celtic team mate, who are also alleged to have shown an interest in Jamie Cureton.

The City boss has also denied reports that he is interested in Barnet winger Albert Adomah, after he turned down a new contract offer.
