Match Preview – Norwich City v Tranmere Rovers
November 13, 2009 in Match Preview, Norwich City FC by Nelson's Revenge
City welcome Tranmere Rovers to Carrow Road tomorrow afternoon and Paul Lambert will be hoping that Adam Drury will be in contention having recovered from a knee injury that kept him out of the side that played against Swindon in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie on Tuesday.
Rhoys Wiggins looks likely to give way If Drury is fit, and there could be a return to action for Jon Otsemobor, who was substituted after less than an hour at the County Ground, to keep him fresh for tomorrow, which would be his first league for nearly a month.
It would leave the City boss to decide between Gary Doherty and Michael Nelson, for central defensive duties alongside Jens Berthel Askou, who has emerged as the rock in the City defence, although on current form you would expect Doherty to get the nod over Nelson.
Lambert has his a clutch of injured players that he hopes will come through training today after first team regulars Chris Martin, Gary Doherty, Wes Hoolahan, Darel Russell and Korey Smith all missed Tuesday night’s fixture against Swindon after picking up injuries last weekend.
City’s Captain and top scorer, Grant Holt and midfielder Simon Lappin are available again for the clash against Les Parry’s side having each served a one match suspension after picking up five yellow cards, and you would expect both to step straight back into the starting eleven.
Tranmere, who are second from bottom with just one win and two goals in seven away games, are likely to recall Gareth Edds at right back in place of the suspended Shay Logan.
Tranmere caretaker boss, Les Parry is also expected to restore on loan Liverpool goalkeeper David Martin to his starting line up replacing Luke Daniels, after the goalkeeper was unavailable for FA Cup duty against Leyton Orient last weekend.
