BEST! Ever FA Cup Game!

November 6, 2009 in Norwich City FC by Nelson's Revenge

So, what is your BEST! Ever FA Cup Game!

Could it be from the ‘59 Cup run, when Archie Macaulay’s third division side took on and beat the likes of Manchester United, Cardiff City and Sheffield United? Or it is a little closer to the modern day when Mike Walker’s team lost to Sunderland in the semi-final having beaten Millwall, Notts County and Southampton enroute.

Right back recall for Drury

November 6, 2009 in News, Norwich City FC by Nelson's Revenge

Adam Drury look set for a return at right back tomorrow afternoon as injury problems continue to plague Paul Lambert’s side.

Drury was forced into the makeshift role for the League One win at Stockport last weekend following a string of injuries in the right back position that the City manager has been forced to contend with.

There are few signs of the injury crisis abating as it appears that Michael Spillane will be out until Christmas, whilst George Francomb is likely to be out for another month, whilst indications are that it could be too early for Jon Otsemobor to return, who has been struggling with a hamstring injury.

Lambert has promised to send a strong side out against Paulton Rovers tomorrow, but Drury is likely to again be called in to cover at right back, being the strongest contender for the vacant position.

Reports suggest that the City boss tried and failed to bring in a loan player prior to the Stockport game, and is again looking to complete another deal ahead of the Canaries trip to the South West, although it is questionable whether any signing would be allowed to play tomorrow.

Whilst the vacant right back position appears to top the list of Lambert’s injury headache, there are other concerns with midfielders Stephen Hughes and Matt Gill and striker Luke Daley likely to be missing tomorrow afternoon.

The biggest problem appears to come in the shape of Matthew Gill, who after his first start for more than two months since suffering a knee injury, retired early in the second half last weekend when he limped off with a calf injury.

One certainty for tomorrow afternoon will be a recall for Declan Rudd, as Newcastle United have refused to allow Norwich to cup tie him.

Elsewhere, reports are suggesting that Cambridge United striker Chris Holroyd could be on his way to Carrow Road.

The Canaries and Bournemouth are are believed to be competing for the signature of 22 year old who has scored 14 goals for the Conference side so far this season.
